Please join SALDF as we welcome Odette Wilkens, the Executive Director of the Equal Justice Alliance, who will keep us in the loop regarding some of the challenges that face the animal welfare movement.

In 2008, four animal welfare advocates were arrested as “terrorists” under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act for conduct including protesting, chalking the sidewalk, chanting and leafleting, and allegedly using “the Internet to find information on bio-medical researchers.”  Could it happen to you?  Ms. Wilkens will be discussing the AETA and what it means for our First Amendment rights.

Sponsored by SALDF.  Lunch will be served.

HEALS Blood Drive

Mon. Feb. 27, 9AM-5PM, Platt Atrium

Donating blood is literally giving the gift of life.  The New York Blood Center, our partner, needs close to 2,000 people a day to roll up their sleeves to give the gift of life.  There is simply no substitute for voluntarily donated blood.  Without volunteer donors, our community would not have an adequate community blood supply.  First time donors welcome!  Please eat breakfast before donating blood.

Volunteers are also needed to work with Fordham Law HEALS (Health Education and Advocacy Law Society) to coordinate the blood drive.  Register here.
